Grocery Store Haul

Yesterday we went to a local grocery store for miscellaneous food items (A.K.A: action figures). We have been finding that various locations of our local grocery store (H-E-B) has more inventory of Marvel Universe (MU) figures than Target or Toys R Us. We've seen different figures there, but none that we are especially looking for. Yesterday we walked out with three different items and some bagels.

We bought the Marvel Legends Dark Wolverine, 12" Darth Vader, and Astonishing Wolverine MU. While we paid market price for the figures we were really excited about what we found! I had been looking for X-Men Marvel Legends figures but had not found anything that I had really wanted to purchase.

The 12" Darth Vader struck our eye because he just looks really cool!

We are slowly expanding our Marvel Universe collection. Finding an MU figure in a retail store hasn't been an easy task for us. It's almost like finding a needle in a haystack. We are particularly happy to add this Wolverine to our ever growing MU collection.

We invite suggestions for stores or certain days of the week/times that there are better/any selection!

Metal Mania!

A few months back we saw a post on Facebook from a local comic book store for loose "Steel Mutants". The post advertised them for $1.50 each which seemed like a "steel". A couple of days later we headed into the shop in order to see what was left. The staff hadn't displayed them yet and then wanted twice as much per figure! Once we reminded them of the Facebook post they honored the original price. We regretfully only picked up four of the X-Men figures. Of the one's that we left were Magneto and Professor X (we weren't thinking!).

These are the four that we picked up:

Watch out!
Photobomb!

Pick a card!

Saved the "beast" for last

The paint quality exceeded our expectations.  The surface is glossy and has a nice sheen. Also, there are no scratches or chips on the figures we picked up. Not all of the figures contain articulation (Gambit), but they can stand on their own, which is nice for display. Since they are metal they also have a nice weight to them. We are personal fans of die cast/metal figures. We also have some Star Wars ships and figurines that we plan on displaying in a later post!

Eckman Toy Show Minimate Haul

Over the summer we visited a Eckman's Toy Show in New Braunfels, Texas. We were excited to go but didn't want to get our hopes up in case it ended up being a bust (10 tables max and 5 filled with barbies as we had previously experienced at another "show").

It ended up being a success and we had one of our best hauls there. Keep in mind that we are new collectors and this was our fourth toy show of the year. We definitely will be heading back again! I believe that this show is twice a year, and it is worth it.

As promised, here is our minimate haul:

Here they are in all their bagged glory!

Our $1 finds
We've never seen loose minimates (or any minimates really) at any of the shows that we've been too, so we were definitely excited to see these! We got hulk, beast, the thing, and cyclops for $1 each. There were a few more $1 loose figures but I think we were too excited to grab more.

Originally marked $5

Originally marked $5
Magneto and Blue Beetle were both marked for $5 but we ended up bundling all of our minimates for $11 total. Blue Beetle is missing his accessory but we'll do some research and find out what he should have come with. Maybe we'll have some luck and be able to find it.

The vendor recognized us from other shows so we will definitely be able to get some other good finds from him in the future!

We'll leave you off with one of our favorites. x-Factor Beast!

ARGH!
